Infrastructure requirements for cargo bikes for their use in last-mile logistics

With its city-wide Last Mile concept, the City of Hamburg has set itself a comprehensive target for delivery traffic in the city and formulated ambitious goals for the ramp-up of cargo bike logistics. In addition, the city of Hamburg is also promoting the private use of cargo bikes. In densely built-up areas in particular, this results in a need for parking facilities, loading and unloading zones and electric charging systems in public spaces. The study will determine these infrastructure requirements at neighborhood level and draw up exemplary neighborhood plans.

For this study, the Chair of Freight Transport Planning and Transport Logistics will prepare a forecast of CEP traffic (separated in car/cargo bike) and private cargo bike traffic, use this as a basis for drawing up the concepts for measures at neighborhood level and contribute to the creation of a concept for further measures.
